Services

Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is designed for you to expand your awareness of your self and your place in the world.   I customize our sessions based on who you are and what you are hoping to glean from the therapeutic process.  Whether it is depression and anxiety, relationship, health or career challenges our work together will bring you back in alignment with you are and a natural state of well being.

Couples
“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed. “
Carl Jung
Couples therapy can greatly impact your relationship and create a backbone for more success in your communication, your understanding and compassion, and allow the natural flow of love to return to you and your partner.  I provide pre-commitment counseling, couples therapy as well as co-parenting support for divorced families.  Whatever stage of a relationship you are in it is never too early or too late to learn effective ways of dealing with conflict.

For Parents
“No matter how calmly you try to referee, parenting will eventually produce bizarre behavior, and I'm not talking about the kids.”
Bill Cosby
Parenting remains one of the most challenging, confusing and yet most rewarding parts of being human.  With all the books and constantly changing “reports” on what to do and not to do it is no wonder that more and more families are finding themselves seeking support and clarity from a therapist.  I have worked with children my entire life and studied their development extensively.  I have a vast amount of insight to help you better understand what your child may be experiencing and the best way to help them through the struggles of growing up.  Though I love to impart this knowledge the real benefit of this type of counseling is to identify and support your natural and instinctive parenting skills.  This is a great service for families with children who are going through a loss or adjustment (death in the family, big move, divorce, step-parenting) or for families who may have children who require a bit more skills (attention difficulties, autism spectrum, mood disorders).

Therapy with Children
My work with young children is always second to the work I do with the parents.  Counseling for your child may be a great benefit to help them express their feelings (through play, art, theater and music) and to learn how to heal through difficult times (divorce, loss, trauma).  Working with young children and presenting them with a safe space to be seen and heard is one of the most satisfying experiences I can have.  If you have a child and are considering counseling please take a look at my Kids Page to help them understand what going to see a therapist will be like.

Therapy with Teens
Our teenage years are the some of the hardest.  We are trying to move out of the nest but still need the unconditional love and support of our families.  We feel misunderstood by the adults in our lives.   We are angry with our parents and yet it is the time in our life when we need them the most.  We are besot with mixed messages on who to be and what to do.  Add some heavy doses of hormones into the mix and it is amazing that any of us survive.  I believe teens of this generation have it the worst.  The opportunities and availability of information and social networking can create an overwhelming feeling of anxiety, despair or anger.  My approach with teens is much different than with any other service.  For most of us at that age, going and sitting across from an adult (who could not possibly understand what we are going through) and talking about our “feelings” can be really uncomfortable and downright unhelpful.  My sessions with teens usually take us outside for a walk or hike or maybe to get a cup of coffee or some ice cream.  I find that teens have a lot to say when they feel comfortable enough to talk.  Therapy of this kind can be incredibly helpful and life saving.  If you have a teen and you think counseling might benefit them have them check out my Teens Page.
